Research Associate / Research Associate II

The successful candidate will support the overall program goals and strategy of the group which will include characterization of RNA and protein expression in vitro. The candidate will have broad molecular and cellular biology experience. Previous experience with viral vector construction will be considered a plus. Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills are essential and the capability to effectively work in a team environment is required.

Required Skills:
  • Molecular biology (e.g. PCR, gel electrophoresis,      nucleic acid purification, restriction digest).
  • In vitro transcription and RNA handling.
  • Sequence and ligation independent cloning (SLIC)
  • Recombinant virus production and/or characterization
  • Biochemical and/or cell based assays relevant to      virology/immunology
  • Protein expression analysis techniques (e.g. protein      concentration determination, Western Blot, ELISA)
  • Flow cytometry experience
  • Mammalian tissue culture experience
  • Able to effectively multitask and advance various      projects simultaneously
Required Experience:
  • Requires a BS in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology,      Immunology, Virology or related field,
  • Requires a minimum of one to three-years relevant      laboratory experience in industry or academia
  • Highly capable in techniques commonly used in      molecular/cell biology and immunology
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques
  • Detail oriented with an ability to independently record      scientific progress
  • Familiarity with computational biology tools (BLAST,      Vector NTI, sequence alignments, primer and construct design, etc.)
    • Biosafety level 2 experience is preferred
  • Outstanding experiment design, problem-solving, and      data analysis skills
  • Able to effectively multitask and advance various      projects simultaneously
