Manufacturing Supervisor, Gene Production

SUMMARY:
As a hands-on supervisor, you will lead associates performing basic molecular biology techniques in a high throughput environment to support the manufacture and analysis of a variety of custom gene products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manufacture of high-quality custom gene products in a high throughput manufacturing lab according to established SOPs.
  • Operate and troubleshoot robotic laboratory equipment (Hamiltons and similar systems) and traditional lab equipment (bioanalyzers, centrifuges, sealers, thermocyclers, spectrometers, HPLCs, Next Gen Sequencing etc.)
  • Proactively identify production problems/solutions
  • Support continuous cost/process improvement initiatives 
  • Maintain and calibrate select lab equipment
  • Prioritize workflows
  • Review and verification of production batch records, manufacturing documents
  • Write and submit incident reports, CAPAs, planned deviations, etc.
  • Train, mentor and lead junior associates
REQUIREMENTS:
  • AS/BS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline (industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • 5-10 years lab experience in manufacturing environment; to include previous lead or supervisory experience
  • Operation of liquid handling robotics
  • PCR, cell-based cloning, purification
  • Experience with sample tracking software
  • Computation and data analysis
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
  • Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to work second shift.
