Senior Automation Engineer

BioPhase Solutions specializes in recruiting top talented professionals for California's Scientific community. We are currently looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to work for a leading Bay Area biotechnology company.

Senior Automation Engineer 


Summary:
This position will work with Scientists, Software Developers, and the Production Team. Up to 10% national and international travel is required.

Responsibilities:
  • Transition manually intensive and error prone processes onto automated equipment.
  • Optimize existing automated and partially automated processes to improve quality, efficiency, throughput, and cost.
  • Build partnerships with our key equipment vendors and service providers.
  • Provide emergency support for existing equipment, and coordinate vendor support as needed.
  • Define and carry out preventive procedures on laboratory equipment, validate functionality, and document results.
  • Seek and qualify novel technologies, and if appropriate, validate and transition to production line.
  • Design and carry out validation plans for both new equipment and for process changes on existing instrumentation.
  • Prepare clear and succinct technical reports and presentations to facilitate adoption of methods and technologies across functional teams.
  • Provide and/or coordinate training for new users of equipment.
  • Travel nationally and internationally to support automation needs for other locations (up to 10% work time).

Requirements:
  • BS or MS degree, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in automation engineering in a biotech, pharma or diagnostic setting.  
  • Talented in writing and optimizing methods and protocols for a variety of automated liquid handling systems.
  • Experienced with common programming languages used for laboratory instrument integration.
